God is superfluous

Just read a piece on evolution.

Mind you, I’d rather stick needles in my eyes than wade through all that stuff. The whole evolution vs creation scene is not my bag or, better, it isn’t the battlefield that I fight on.

[yeah, but what about the dinosaurs in the book of Job? 🙂 ].

What caught my attention was a statement that proclaimed:

In short, God is superfluous.

While he was referencing evolution, it was an indictment of God in all the affairs of man… he is “unnecessary.”

That actually sent me to the dictionary. I don’t think I’ve done that since Mrs. Turner’s fourth grade class! What I found suprised me. Besides the idea that superfluous means unnecessary, it also means

more than enough; overabundant

and I have no problem with that…
